The children have had a positive week. I am pleased to see hats, scarves and gloves keeping our children warm as they arrive each morning.
As I write this, we have a team of CHS pupils competing in the opening round of the annual Quiz Club General Knowledge tournament. The children, accompanied by Mr Garvey and Miss Pluskowska, have taken the short journey to The Hall School in Hampstead to pit their wits against twenty other teams in a series of challenging questions. Riddhi is captaining the side, which also features Eleanor from Form Five, Mimi from Form Four and James from Form Three. There are thirty questions overall, with points allocated depending on the difficulty of the question. Knowing the moons of Jupiter or when Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address would be a distinct advantage. We will find out soon whether the team has scored high enough to get them through to the semi-finals held in the Spring. Good luck CHS!
Junior One
The children have had an exceptionally busy week starting with a tasty trip to Pizza Express where they loved becoming chefs for the day. Later in the week the children were visited by Yasmin an Emergency Services call handler to talk about her important role. Moving from their project on professions Junior One started Chinese New Year celebrations when Thyra’s mummy came in to talk to them this afternoon. What a lovely end to a special week.
Form Six
There has been a lot of coming and going this week with children heading to their various 11+ interviews. We have all been so impressed with their maturity and stamina through this process and look forward to receiving the results shortly.
In addition, two of our Year Six Mathematics took part in the brain-twisting Oxford University Computing Challenge this week. These tests are not for the feint hearted and feature a series of taxing Maths questions which focus on computational skills and logical thinking. We await the results with interest.
