Open Day - Friday 21 March

It was a pleasure to welcome our CHS families into school for our annual Open Morning. We hope you enjoyed seeing your children in their home away from home and celebrating all the fantastic work they have been doing. It was wonderful to share their hard work and progress with you and to give you the opportunity to speak with their current teachers, as well as meet those who will be guiding them in the future. Thank you for joining us—we truly value your support and involvement in school life.

Open Afternoon was a fantastic success! Our Form Six pupils, along with a select group of Form Five ambassadors, did a brilliant job leading tours for prospective parents. They spoke with confidence and enthusiasm, sharing their experiences and offering a wonderful insight into life at CHS. Their warmth and professionalism were truly commendable, and we are incredibly proud of them. Thank you to everyone who helped make the afternoon such a memorable occasion!

Queen’s Gate Debating Competition

On Wednesday afternoon, seven Form Six pupils made their way to Kensington for the annual Queen’s Gate debating competition. The students were in two teams and faced fourteen other sides in a three-hour tournament. The motions which were debated included, ‘This house believes that exams are the best way to assess students; and this house believes it is always better to give to those in need, no matter the cost.’ Maia, Lili, Saif and Darcy comprised one team and had one win, one draw and one defeat in their three debates. The team of Izzy, Ivan and Delia won two and drew one of their debates and finished in second place. A brilliant achievement!

Chocolate Easter Egg Collection for St John’s Hospice

As part of our ongoing charitable work with the local community and the Marble Arch Partnership, we are once again collecting Chocolate Easter eggs to be donated to St John’s Hospice. If you would like to contribute, please send an Easter egg in with your child on Monday, 24th March. These will then be delivered to the hospice before we break up for the Easter Holidays.

This small act of kindness brings great joy to the recipients and serves as a valuable opportunity for our pupils to develop empathy and an awareness of those in need. Thank you for your generosity and support.

Form Six Trip - Tuesday 25th March

Form Six will be heading off on a trip on Tuesday morning, visiting the ‘Centre of the Cell’ at Queen Mary University, where they will explore cell biology and medical research through a dynamic 90-minute interactive experience. Following this, they will head to West India Quay to visit the Museum of London Docklands, discovering the fascinating history of the city’s development.

Parents of Form Two pupils are warmly invited to attend our Open Dance Session, where you will have the opportunity to watch the children showcase what they have been learning with Miss Ellie this term. Further details will be shared on Monday.

Quiz Club Semi Final - Thursday 27th March

A group of pupils from Forms Four to Six will be putting their knowledge to the test as they take on the semi-finals of the prestigious Quiz Club Challenge. The competition will take place in school, where they will tackle a range of challenging questions across multiple subjects. We wish them the very best of luck—go team!

Mr McManus’ Fundraising Challenge

This April, our school counsellor, Mr McManus, will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise funds for Samaritans, a charity providing vital, round-the-clock support to those in distress. Having previously volunteered as a listener, he has seen first-hand the life-changing impact of simply being heard. Donations ensure this crucial service continues, and any support for Mr McManus’s fundraising efforts is greatly appreciated. Together, we can help those struggling to cope find someone who listens. Artwork of the Week

Poppy in Form Three, for a brilliant large-scale flower drawing, inspired by the work of Georgia O’Keeffe. Fantastic application of the grid method to enlarge an image and excellent use of oil pastels. Well done Poppy!
