What a busy week we’ve had at CHS this week!

The Royal Parks Charity visit

This Monday, The Royal Parks charity brought a touch of nature to our week with a special assembly. Children from all forms joined in for an interactive session led by Charlie and Beth, seasoned members of The Royal Parks. They guided the pupils through an imaginary nature walk, pausing to explore various habitats. The children got hands-on, dressing up as fungi, learning about pollinating insects and understanding the importance of healthy soils for plant growth. There was even a lesson in responsible duck feeding—no bread allowed! It was an educational yet lighthearted experience enjoyed by all.

Special thanks

As our Form Six children buckle down for the senior school assessment process, a heartfelt thank you goes out to Mr. Nagy and Mrs. Hampton Senior. They took the time to visit and support our seniors in preparing them for their interviews. Offering constructive feedback and insights into strengths and weaknesses observed during interviews, their guidance is invaluable during this crucial time.

Christmas Carol singing

Wednesday brought the sweet sound of Christmas carols as our Senior Choir performed admirably at the Christmas in Connaught Village event, near the Tree of Love. Dr. Ashworth led the choir, creating a festive atmosphere that resonated throughout the village.

Pop-up art gallery

A pop-up art gallery was set up with the Head of Art, Ms Foster, curating a wide range of outstanding artwork created by children throughout the school. This added a touch of creativity to the holiday season. It was a simple yet delightful celebration of the season's spirit. Miss Cho edited a wonderful brochure to accompany the event, featuring the artwork on display and including some of our creative highlights from the Autumn Term. Additional copies have been ordered and will be available at our Christmas performance at the end of the term.

A huge thank you must be shared to our newly formed Parents’ Committee, for manning the pop-up art gallery and running the festive activities we had on offer that evening. Children were able to enjoy cookie decorating and festive colouring. A special thank you to Mrs London for bringing delicious doughnuts for all to enjoy.

Parents’ Committee 2023/24

The CHS Parents’ Committee will welcome all parents and carers, and encourage participation to help us come together as a community to raise funds both for the school’s bursary and the school’s charity of choice, UNICEF, which is committed to ensuring special protection of the most disadvantaged children.

Funds will be raised predominantly through school events which will be attended and supported by families at the school. Additionally, the Parents’ Committee will manage the successful Second-Hand Uniform Sales each term.

Daunt Book Fair

On Thursday we held our annual book fair in the Dining Room. The children were very eager to dive into new literary adventures. Bahare from Daunt Books guided the children on their choices of new literature. There was a book for everyone from the youngest members of the school right up to some of the teachers. Due to the success of the fair, the school now has credit to spend in-store, allowing us to add to our ever-increasing library for our book-loving pupils.
