Message from the Principal

Amidst the current climate of heightened tension and emotional anxiety, we look to our core principles and school ethos to guide us in maintaining our nurturing and inclusive environment for your children. We acknowledge that our pupils may have varying degrees of awareness and understanding concerning events in the wider world and as a UNICEF school, we steadfastly uphold our moral values, recognising the inherent rights of every child, irrespective of their background or status.

Our ongoing aim is to maintain a cheerful and stable learning atmosphere, where our children are encouraged to be inquisitive and motivated, always remembering the importance of fostering empathy and developing a considerate awareness for their peers.

Whilst we are acutely aware of the unique challenges our multicultural and multilingual community are facing, we remain dedicated to safeguarding the importance of childhood and we will address any obstacles, within our capabilities as a school, with appropriate support strategies.

As always, at the heart of our ethos lies an unwavering commitment to the emotional well-being of our children. As we recognise that it forms the foundation for their emotional growth and resilience and the cultivation of their emotional intelligence. This, in turn, we hope, will help guide them on their journey to becoming supportive and caring young adults.

I thank our parent community for their continued support.
Victoria Hampton

Principal

Chess

We extend our congratulations to our esteemed GrandMaster, Ms Jackson, for her remarkable achievement in the recent International Chess competition she participated in and emerged victorious, securing a gold medal in her respective division. This outstanding feat is a testament to her dedication, skill, and unwavering commitment to the sport of chess.

#HelloYellow Day 2023 - World Mental Health Day 10 October 2023

On Tuesday, CHS was a sea of vibrant yellow as students, teachers, and staff united to raise awareness for mental health through the HelloYellow campaign. The sight of our school adorned in yellow was not only a beautiful expression of solidarity but also a powerful statement of our commitment to young people's mental well-being.

We are delighted to inform you that together, we raised an impressive total of £340 for the charity YoungMinds UK. This achievement demonstrates the remarkable generosity and compassion of our school community. Your contributions will directly support YoungMinds in their mission to empower and uplift young minds across the UK.

Following on the theme for HelloYellow, this afternoon the children from Junior One to Form Four got together in mixed-aged groups to work together to create a juggling/stress ball for everyone in the group. It was so pleasing to see the collaboration between the ages.

Festive Cards Orders

Our talented students have been hard at work crafting superb pieces of artwork, each brimming with creativity and festive spirit. These delightful creations will soon be transformed into a selection of professionally printed products, perfect for celebrating the upcoming holiday season. We have sent the designs off, so please keep your eyes peeled for further information on how to order these.

NSPCC Pants - Judged by local designer and shop owner from Eliza Jane Howell

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the local designer, Andrea from Eliza Jane Howell, who generously dedicated her time to visit CHS and serve as a judge for our creative pants, designed by pupils from all classes as part of our participation in the NSPCC campaign to teach the PANTS rule to the children.

Summarised the message is:
Privates are private
Always remember your body belongs to you
No means no
Talk about secrets that upset you
Speak up, someone can help

Andrea’s expertise and discerning eye were invaluable in selecting class winners, as well as two overall winning designs. The anticipation and excitement among the children is palpable as they eagerly await the results to be announced during the upcoming Good Work Assembly on Monday. Her presence and contribution have not only enriched our educational experience but also inspired our budding designers. Thank you for your support in nurturing the creative spirit of our pupils.
