ℯNEWS December 01, 2023

What a cold and chilly week it has been! Please remember to wrap up warm and ensure children are arriving at school all bundled up with hats, scarves and gloves clearly labelled with their names.

Form One Open Dance at Sylvia Young

Teachers, parents and guardians alike were utterly delighted by the Form One open dance event at SYTS on Wednesday. Our fabulous children were very proud to showcase all their newly learnt skills with some impressive high kicks and leaps, along with some entertaining freestyle dance, led by their ever-creative dance teacher, Miss Shannon. We will all look forward to Form Two's Open Dance in 2024. Thank you to all those who came to support the children.

Singers to Penfold Community Hub

A number of our Senior Choir went to Penfold Community Hub along with Mrs Wells and Mrs Larke to spread some festive cheer. Children from across the school produced some brilliant cards to hand out to the residents there and members from the Senior Choir sang a medley of Christmas tunes for their enjoyment. As a thank you from the residents, a homemade festive wreath was gifted to CHS as a show of gratitude for all the festive cheer the children brought to the centre.

Upcoming

Festive Postbox

From Tuesday 5 December onward the Festive Postbox will be opened for children to post their festive cards. Once the postbox overflows Santa’s Little Helpers from the Senior classes will distribute them across the school.

Christmas Party

Our traditional Children's Christmas party is at school on 7th December. The children will all be served an early light lunch before participating in some party games and a tea party in the afternoon. Plenty of festive cheer to be shared.

Carol Singing for the guests at Victory Services Club

Ahead of our Christmas parties, our senior choir will be bringing their own festive cheer to the guests of VSC. This annual event at our neighbours is always heard by an encouraging and positive audience. A reminder that all seniors should be in their full CHS winter uniform. Green tights and smart skirts/pinafores or pressed trousers, along with school ties and jumpers, must be worn, please.

Last Games at Kensington Leisure Centre for the Term

The last games session at Kensington Leisure Centre for this term will be on Friday 8 December.

Juniors Christmas Play and whole school Carol Concert

Our Junior children have been working hard to practise their songs and lines to put on a fabulous performance of Goldilocks and the Three Christmas Bears! We are so excited to see the children’s hard work come to fruition and hope you will all be there to support our youngest pupils.
In Addition, our Senior Choir will perform a selection of carols for us all to enjoy.

Food Donation - Collection on Thursday & Friday ONLY

As we have done in the past, this Thursday and Friday we are kindly asking parents to bring some non-perishable food items into school which will be taken to local initiatives that will use these donations to support those who are in need. An email will be sent on Monday with further details.

Last Day of Term

Wednesday 13 December marks the last day of the Autumn Term and the start of the winter holidays.
