ℯNEWS MARCH 28, 2024

The sun shone this morning, making it the perfect backdrop for the children's Easter egg hunt. The children had a great time searching for their eggs hidden around Connaught Square Garden. It was a brilliant way to end the Spring term.

Junior One, Parent Visitors

The children were excited to welcome two fathers into Junior One on Monday 25th March to talk about Purim as part of their Knowledge and Understanding of the World topic, learning about festivals around the world. The children listened to stories about the festival, made their own noisemakers, masks and delicious Hamantaschen too. A lot of joy and happiness was heard from the classroom.

Form 5 & 6 Science Trip

On Monday, Forms Five & Six had a wonderful time at the Science Museum. The Form Five children spent the day exploring space. The IMAX was the most popular activity where the children saw what life was like on the International Space Station. It was a real privilege to view our beautiful planet from a different perspective. We then went around the space gallery and saw objects, such as Tim Peake’s return shuttle. The Form Six children started the day with a Wonder Show where they witnessed a live demonstration. They then later visited the Wonder Lab and experienced many hands-on activities from a range of Science topics. The winner here seemed to be the friction slides.

STEM & DT Workshops

While Forms Five and Six were away at the Science Museum, Forms One to Four enjoyed learning about Lego Robotics with specialist, Joe Miller from Engineering Minds. In his words, “The children were extremely polite and well behaved, some of the most talented he has taught so far.”  They created their own rovers and rockets and then controlled them through codes they wrote themselves using iPads.
In addition to the robotics workshops, the children in all classes had a design and technology based workshop with Ms Foster creating an array of seasonal 2D designs and 3D moving models.

St John’s Hospice - Egg Donation

On Tuesday, our School Council Representatives dropped off your kindly donated eggs with Mrs Wells and Ms Pluskowska to St John's Hospice. Rachel Beale, our contact at Marble Arch Partnership emailed us to say;

'Sophie Gray (the Senior Fundraising & Volunteer Manager) sent me a picture (of all the eggs), and it looked so sweet! Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to reach out again. The staff and patients would like me to say thank you to you again for your generous donation!'

Once again, we are grateful to our CHS community for rallying together for a good cause.

Ms Harford’s Half Marathon Challenge for World Wildlife Fund (WWF)

Ms Harford (J1 Teaching Assistant) has taken on an exciting challenge to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 7th April to raise funds for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The WWF’s mission is very close to Ms Harford’s heart.
