For this project, Form 2 studied the kinetic art of American artist Alexander Calder, and thought about the continually changing compositions of his mobiles. We looked at the shape of his forms and thought about what these reminded us of. Ideas included a shoal of fish, orbiting planets and a dinosaur skeleton. The children went on to design and make their own carefully composed mobiles, paying particular attention to weight and balance.
