Dear Parents

Thank you for supporting the children’s wonderful performances at the VSC last Friday. I think we can all agree that they did a wonderful job. If you would like to order a DVD and have not already done so, please send through orders by the end of today.

Dates for your diary

I am sure that many of you have been keeping a close eye on the CHS calendar and have already put these dates in your diaries. However, as this is a busy time of year, we would like to draw your attention to the upcoming events over the next two weeks:

Tuesday 3rd – Open dance

Parents of children in Junior OneForms One & Two, have been invited to observe the final dance lesson of the term. Invitations have been sent previously:

Junior One Green in school at 11.00am

Junior One Yellow in school at 11.30am

Form One at the Sylvia Young Theatre at 1.10pm

Form Two at the Sylvia Young Theatre at 1.40pm

Thursday 5th – Carol singing

We are delighted that our Senior Choir has been invited to perform as the ‘main voice’ at the annual Christmas Carols in Hyde Park Square this Thursday, 5 December 2019 at 6pm.  This festive event with mulled wine, minced pies and plenty of Christmas spirit, will give our children a lovely opportunity to sing in front of an appreciative audience and we are hoping to see many of our CHS families there. Please do come and support even if your child is in a younger year.

Friday 6th December – Open Swim & Daunt Book Fair

Parents of children in Forms Three to Six have been invited to observe the final swimming lessons of the term. Children will be divided between the two pools, with our more proficient swimmers demonstrating their ability in all four strokes in the larger pool. We remind parents that they are not permitted to take any photographs at this event.

Daunt Books will once again be setting up their wonderful winter book fair in our dining room on Friday, 6th December. This will be open for parents at both ends of the day – from 8.30am to 4.30pm and for pupils to browse and buy books with their Form Teachers throughout the day.  Please send money for your child in a named envelope.

The books on sale are carefully handpicked for CHS with many classics as well as new releases and selections to suit every age and reader. We are very proud to support our local bookseller and not only do the profits keep the high street alive, CHS also receives a percentage from every purchase that goes directly into keeping our school library up-to-date and engaging for your children.

Wednesday 11th December – Carol Concert

Once again, apologies for the change of date but, unfortunately, voting has had to take precedence over our singing.  We are looking forward to seeing you all at 2.30pm for our Christmas Carol Concert at St John’s Church.

Thursday 12th December – Toy Day

The children are allowed to bring in a suitable named toy to share with their classmates for the morning session. Children will be collected at:

Junior & Form One collection at 12.00

Forms Two & Three collection at 12.10

Forms Four, Five & Six collection at 12.15

New School Secretary

Ms Jemma De Wynter will be joining us in January and is very much looking forward to being part of the CHS team.  With nine years experience working for a mental health trust and many more working with children in and around schools, including as a SEN assistant, Ms De Wynter offers a wealth of expertise.  Ms De Wynter is with us for much of this week working alongside Ms White who is handing over the office reins.

Best Wishes.
