Good afternoon CHS Parents

It was delightful to see so many parents attending the Christmas Concert this morning.  All the children performed beautifully, singing some rousing Christmas songs, with the Junior One and Form One play eliciting many ‘Ahhhh’s’.  Many thanks to all staff involved in preparing the children, with particular thanks to Dr Ashworth, Ms Robertson for the recorders, and Ms Horgan for supporting the poetry recitals.

Congratulations to Aurelia in Form Four and Estella in Form Five, both girls passed ABRSM violin Grades 5 and 6 with Distinctions.  Further congratulations to Aurelia who has also been invited to join the prestigious National Children’s Orchestra as a violinist! She will be joining Estella and her older sister in the string section of the orchestra.  Both girls delighted us with a performance of their examination pieces at the whole school assembly on Thursday morning.   The school also enjoyed hearing Meera on the violin and Ethan on the piano.

The children all enjoyed their Christmas parties yesterday.  There was Pass the parcel, Musical Statues and Pin the Tail on Reindeers, Snowmen and other festive creatures, followed by a delicious Christmas tea party.

The children’s PE lessons will resume on Thursday, 6 January so the children will need to arrive in their PE kit.   Please also note that the first swimming session for Form Two and Form Three will be on Friday 7 January.  The children will need to have a spare set of either PE kit or uniform in case their clothes get wet, it will be particularly useful to have a spare set of socks!  We appreciate it if you would check their shoes and trainers fit them and ensure all items are named prior to the start of term.

To confirm, the first day of the Spring Term will be Wednesday, 5 January 2022 and we look forward to seeing the children then.  We appreciate that many of you will be visiting family and friends over Christmas and we would like to ask for all families to conduct a Lateral Flow test prior to the children returning so we continue to be vigilant and minimise any risk of Covid cases.

On behalf of all the teachers and staff, we would like to say thank you for all the cards, gifts and good wishes received.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas break,

Warm regards,
