Good afternoon CHS parents

The children have settled well in to their first full week at school. From Junior One, who have been looking at people who help us, to our Form Six who have been sitting the second round of exams and interviews for their 11+.

Seven intrepid Key Stage Two students had the honour of taking part in the UK Bebras Maths competition at the end of last year. This was no ordinary Maths test as it put the pupils through a whole host of diffrerent Maths problems asking them to think ‘outside the box’ to come up with their solutions. The requirements were a comprehensive understanding of all Maths concepts and an ability to understand intriciate questions which could challenge many GCSE students. Well done to Estella, Oscar and Adiel for their brilliant scores; to Hannah Z and Amara who both achieved a merit award; to Alexandra who scored a commendable 156 points, gaining her a distinction.  Congratulations also goes out to Riddhi who blazed her way to a total of 167 points, earning her a distinction and the ‘best in school’ award; we also wish Riddhi all the best for Round 1 in the Oxford University Computing Challenge! Both Alexandra and Riddhi will be going through to the next stage of this national competition.

We are excited to introduce a new member of staff to our team. With 17 years school experience, Mrs Gany  joins us from Emanuel’s school and has taken on the important role of Lunch Time Supervisor. She will be monitoring the children’s table manners, what they eat and encouraging them to try new foods.  Mrs Gany will also be on hand for park and play time activities and she has already made herself very well liked amongst the staff and respected by the children.

As the weather is noticeably colder at the moment, may we ask all parents to continue ensuring their child is well equipped with extra warm clothing as the school has to keep the windows open.
