Good afternoon CHS Parents

We hope this email finds you all well.

MINI BEAST DRESS UP

The beginning of the week saw an array of Junior One creepy crawlies and flying insects arrive at the school for their ‘Minibeast’ themed day.   The children enjoyed going on the minibeast walk around Hyde Park and were very excited to spot ladybirds, bees, ants and a butterfly!

NATIONAL SMILE MONTH

It is National Smile Month, so, Dr Kyi talked to pupils about dental hygiene in this week’s UNICEF assembly.  This supports children learning about the UN Rights of the Child,  Number 24, “Children have the right to good quality healthcare and health education so they can stay healthy’. Dr Kyi founded ‘West London Orthodontist’, an award winning specialist practice and oral health education is something she is passionate about.

JUBILEE WEEK next week

We will be celebrating Jubilee Week over the week starting Monday 23 May.  On Thursday 26 May, the children are invited to dress up in blue, white, red OR clothes which represent a decade of the reign of Elizabeth II.  Over the week, they will be designing time capsules, crafting bunting and will be covering various topics such as music, fashion and transport during the queen’s reign.

UNIFORM PROTOCOL

During the disruptions caused by Covid, we relaxed our uniform policy.  However, now that we have returned to normality, it is imperative that our children come into school looking smart and in the appropriate uniform.   As many of your children will have discussed with you, there was a request through ‘Pupil Voice’ that the girls are permitted to wear ties to accompany the winter uniform.  To that end, we have asked Perry’s to display our uniform in a more unisex format.  Please try to support our request as some children are currently coming in a pick a mix of uniform, the main culprits being socks, tights, patent shoes and hairbands that do not comply.  To clarify the children should now be in summer uniform as below:

Summer Uniform requirement

  • Summer dress, white ankle socks, green cardigan or green school pullover, school blazer , black shoes (not patent).  If your child has a fitting boater or cap, they should be wearing them, (although we understand that Perry’s are currently low in stock). White sun hats are to be used in PE and when the children are playing in the park.  Please make sure they are named and they will now stay in school for the rest of the summer
  • Grey shorts, grey socks, white short sleeved shirts, school tie, green pullover, school blazer, black rubber soled shoes, not black trainers (same as above regarding hats)

PE

  • White shorts, white socks, white polo shirt, green sweatshirt, school green tracksuit bottoms optional

Accessories

  • Children’s hair ties should be green, white or neutral colours.  We have had a number of colourful and flamboyant hair accessories in recent weeks which, although they are beautiful, are not appropriate for the school day.  Likewise, friendship bracelets and costume jewellery  should be reserved for weekends and holidays.

Final Request

Brightly coloured nail polish should be removed before coming to school.
