ℯNEWS NOVEMBER 3, 2023

What a blustery start to the second half of the Autumn Term. We hope you are all faring well after storm Ciaran. The children have settled back into their daily school routine superbly after their week away from school and were excited to start the week with an assembly on Monday morning covering fire safety and staying safe ahead of Halloween and Bonfire night over the weekend.

Our school ‘Postie’s’ are on strike!

As an inclusive learning environment, we embrace cultural celebrations and encourage our pupils to share the joy they bring with their classmates and the wider school community. From time to time, this has included sharing seasonal greeting cards, or pre-agreed (with the school office) allergen free treats etc. However, in recent months, it has become apparent that some of our younger pupils are putting increasing pressure on their parents to buy and share gifts of confectionery or small toys among their classmates. This goes against the school's aim to promote healthy eating and against our inclusive learning environment as inevitably, some children are left out or cannot accept such gifts.
We, therefore, ask our parent community to support the school's policy and refrain from asking the Form teacher or school office to be ‘postie's’ for gifts, including party goody bags and sweet treats etc. however, kindly they are meant.

Senior Choir - Christmas Songs

The annual Connaught Village Switch On event will be held on Wednesday 22 November. Our Senior Choir will have the opportunity to perform and sing Christmas songs during this event. The children will have started practising these songs and they are encouraged to learn the lyrics in time for the performance. We all hope to see you there to support your children.

Upcoming

Daunt book Fair - 23 November 2023

Our annual book fair in collaboration with Daunt books is approaching. Children will have the opportunity to bring pocket money in to browse and purchase books at school. Parents will also be able to come in at drop off and collection to browse and purchase books in preparation for the holiday season.

Christmas Concert DVD/USB

Ahead of our Christmas Concert and Juniors Christmas Play, taking place at the end of the term, we have provisionally booked a professional filming company to record the event. However, they require a minimum order of DVD’s/USB’s to attend.  Therefore, we have to notify them of how many DVD’s and USB purchases are likely to be made. To assist us in doing so,  please complete the linked order form by Monday 6th November: Christmas DVD/USB order form
